Alternative tools for teaching

Moodle is still not available. In the meantime, we ask you to use the following tools for your teaching.

Communication with students

You can contact your students directly from JOGU-StINE via e-mail:
https://info.jogustine.en.uni-mainz.de/teaching-staff/sending-messages/

Sharing teaching materials via Seafile

In Seafile you have various options for sharing teaching materials:

Sharing videos via Panopto

If you have embedded your teaching videos in your Moodle course, you can share them directly from Panopto. How to do this will depend on how you embedded the videos:

Case 1: Videos are integrated using the Panopto block

(as described on the following page: https://digitale-lehre.uni-mainz.de/tools/panopto/panopto-videos-in-moodle-einbinden/)

1. Search for the title of your course in Panopto:

2. Click on Browse, then on All Folders and enter the title of your course into the search field (3).

Note: Courses of the current semester are below WiSe 2024/25.

3. Click on the folder. Then select the Share icon at the top right of the window.

4. You will see a window with the shares of the folder (Creator, Publisher and Viewer). Scroll down and a link will be displayed. Click on Copy Link.

You have now copied the link to the clipboard and can paste it into an email, for example.

In this case, you do not need to change the folder's permissions; only the registered participants of the course will have access to the folder.

Case 2: Videos are in a folder that is not linked as described in case 1

In this case, you cannot restrict access to course participants only. You must make the desired settings for sharing the folder in Panopto (e.g. “Everyone with the link”).

You will find the link to the folder as described above under point 3.
