Auto Forwarding Emails Deactivated

On September 14, 2023, the automatic forwarding of emails to external email addresses was deactivated.

The reasons for these changes are increasing requirements for the safety of your personal emails. Through automatic forwarding you can redirect personal emails automatically to external email service providers, although those service providers are not regulated by European Data Protection Law.

An example for this are exam results which are forwarded automatically to a private email address. In the past those kinds of scenarios led again and again to problems in communication and missed deadlines, which among other things were caused by full private emailboxes.

If your email redirecting is based on self-made rules this will also not work. Of course, it is still possible to send emails manually to an external email address. Please pay attention, that confidential Information sent to you will be treated securely and confidentially even if forwarded to external addresses.

You can deactivate the automatic email forwarding already by yourself.

  1. Log in to your JGU Acoount with your login name and password.
  2. Under My Account → Communication data you will find the option Email forwarding.
  3. Click on it, delete the shown email and confirm the empty Adress field with Save.
  4. And like that the Forwarding is deleted.
