The Data Center operates an un-encrypted Wireless Local Area Network. Please note: un-encrypted means that your data transactions can be read by anyone). To use it, all you need to do is to authenticate via a webpage: login.uni-mainz.de. Please also see our documentation about → network access.
Please note: if you are using Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 we recommend using the firewall that comes with the operating system. For these systems we would advise against installing an additional firewall software.
If your operating system and your hardware support security enabled (encrypted) wireless LANs (almost all newer devices support encryption), then we recommend using one of these other SSIDs: → uni-mainz or → eduroam.
