JGU ID card app

The official JGU ID card app from Johannes Gutenberg University contains all relevant ID cards for students and employees.

Minimum technical requirements

  • Android devices: from version 7.0
  • iOS devices: from version 8

The app is optimized for smartphones. This means that there may be a distorted display on other devices.

Account: Upload/modify User image

Every owner of a JGU account of the University of Mainz has the possibility to upload images within their own JGU account for different application purposes.
  1. Account picture that appears in various applications (e.g. Skype for Business, Outlook, MS Teams).
  2. ID picture, which is required for the digital ID card. Currently, this can be accessed in the JGU app.

The following guidelines apply to the upload of images:
        • Image size: at least 200x200 pixels and maximum file size 10 MB

Upload Account picture / ID picture

  1. In order to upload an image, you must log in with your user data at https://account.uni-mainz.de. Now click on My JGU Account in the left menu column.
  2. Then click on upload new picture under JGU account picture or ID picture. You can now upload a picture.
  3. Click Save to finish. The JGU account picture will be added to your Uni account data. The ID picture will appear on your digital ID card in the JGU app.

Change Account picture / ID picture

  1. To change your user image, you must log in with your user data at https://account.uni-mainz.de. Now click on My JGU Account in the left menu column.
  2. Then click on upload new picture under JGU account picture or ID picture. Now you can either delete your previous picture or simply upload a new one.
  3. Uploading and saving a new image will overwrite the previous image.
