The ZDV regularly offers question times and support for various topics and services.

WordPress Question Time

The WordPress experts of the ZDV are available in two different formats for your questions.

  • WordPress introductory course via MS-Teams (monthly)
    • Registration for the course takes place via Personnel Development
    • Only for WordPress beginners who have already watched the introductory videos
    • Content: Question time on the introductory videos and exercises about MS Teams
  • WordPress Question Time per BBB (Monthly)

Linux forum (per BBB)

  • For Linux admins and interested parties
  • Invitation via newsletter:
  • Wednesdays | 10:00 a.m., monthly
  • Content: Exchange on Linux in general and in particular at the University of Mainz and the integration into the central ZDV services.

Windows Question Time (via Skype)

  • For Windows system administrators at JGU and neighboring scientific institutions

  • Content: Questions arising from current operations.
  • Further topics: Working with the Active Directory, software distribution and organizational units, as well as practical training of activities that arise when maintaining Windows networks.

Furthermore, JGU's information security officer, Helmut Zengerling, offers regular information events on IT security.

WLAN consultation hours

  • If you have questions about network problems on mobile devices, there is a WLAN consultation hour on the ZDV Hotline (room 47 / 00 151).
  • Every day from 4:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. we deal with uncooperative notebooks, netbooks and other mobile devices.
  • On Friday we are there for you extra late: from 3 p.m. to 5.45 p.m. the employees of the ZDV Hotline are also available for questions and problems in connection with the university WiFi.
