In Overleaf (formerly ShareLaTeX), LaTeX projects can be edited and compiled online and by multiple users simultaneously.
You have two options for working with Overleaf: Either you use the Extended Community Edition on local university servers or you work with Overleaf in the cloud.

Overleaf Community Edition
On May 15 2025, we upgraded the existing installation at latex.zdv.uni-mainz.de to the Extended Community Edition. You don't need to do anything else and can continue working as usual after the update. The change is similar to software update: your data will remain intact.

Login at: https://latex.zdv.uni-mainz.de/
Employees and students can log in with their JGU account. You don't need to install any software locally; you can simply get started.
Overleaf in the Cloud
You can use Overleaf in the cloud. There are three different licensing models available. In addition to a free version, there are also two paid licenses: https://jgu.to/yqbr
Please check which license is suitable for you. Our colleagues in the Software Licensing Department will collect the names of interested parties and purchase the desired licenses with the appropriate group and education discounts. The costs for the licenses will be booked directly to your cost center.
