How can I embed Documents in Chats?
There are several ways to upload documents:
- Plus symbol: Click on the plus symbol in the chat and select
upload file(s). - Drag & drop: Drag documents directly into the chat window.
Select document processing: Upload the document and click on it before sending your message. A window will open. You can choose between two processing modes:
- Use relevant sections (default): The system automatically uses only the parts of the document that are relevant to your question.
- Full context: The entire document is used—useful if
all of the content is relevant.
Note context limits: Each AI model has technical limits on the amount of text
that can be processed at one time.
For very large documents, only the “Use relevant sections” mode may be available. If the context limit is exceeded, you will receive an error message.
Technical limits: You can upload up to 5 files with a maximum size of 30
MB per upload. Additional files can be added later, but
too many documents can affect the quality of the responses.
Note on PDF files: If your PDF contains scanned text that has not yet been extracted and stored in the document, the document will first undergo an OCR process to extract the text. This may take a few moments for very large documents.
Use OCR software (e.g., Adobe Acrobat) or online OCR tools to extract the text and convert it into a readable format.
Can I upload Copyrighted Documents?
Even though the platform is operated by JGU, please ensure that you comply with data protection regulations when uploading documents. We recommend the following:
- Personal data: Anonymize all personal information
by using placeholders or omissions. - Confidentiality: Only enter information that is subject to confidentiality or similar
restrictions in anonymized form. - Copyrights: Observe the copyrights of third parties when using
protected materials.
In our experience, such adjustments can be made without significant effort
and without loss of quality. Compliance with deletion periods (even below the
30-day period) and the careful handling of entrusted data is your
responsibility.
Can I upload Audio and Video Files?
Yes, you can upload audio and video files. The limit is 30 MB. The files are automatically transcribed and made available to the AI models as text.
